Business Analysis
What it is
Business analysis is the practice of understanding how an organisation works, finding the problems or opportunities that matter, and defining the changes that would create value. The change might be a new process, a software feature, a report or a policy. The analyst's job is to make the need clear before anyone builds anything.
Why it matters
Teams that skip analysis often build the wrong thing quickly. Business analysis connects what the business wants with what technical teams deliver, so money and time go into solving the real problem rather than a guess about it.It also gives managers evidence for hard choices, because options are compared on facts and cost.
Example
Marlow Online Store sees many customers abandon checkout. Instead of redesigning the page at once, an analyst interviews staff, checks the order data and discovers that delivery costs appear only on the last step. The change that follows is small, clear and measurable.
