Go-Live

What it is

Go-live is the point at which a new or changed solution starts being used in real operations. It is preceded by readiness checks and followed by a period of closer monitoring. Activities include final checks, data migration, communication, training, a cut-over plan and support during the first days.

Why it matters

Go-live is when mistakes affect real customers. Preparing a plan covering readiness, communication, support and rollback reduces risk and stress. Analysts contribute by confirming readiness criteria, checking that the business is prepared and gathering early feedback on what is not working.

Example

Marlow Online Store releases the new checkout on a quiet Tuesday morning. The plan names who monitors orders, who answers support calls and how to switch back to the old checkout if errors rise. Because the rollback plan was agreed in advance, the team could act calmly when something unexpected happened and customers saw little disruption.
